Most converter boxes have the ability to decode the captions themselves, meaning that the viewer could use the settings on the converter box to turn on the captions. A DTV broadcaster may also include advanced digital ("advanced" or "708") captions, which can have additional features such as customizable fonts, colors, sizes and screen positions.
