The SMGs of the Assault class suck beyond 15 meters and the machine guns of the support don't deal much damage, so bolt actions still rule anything beyond their effective firing range, which is very small. I don't think that automatic weapons are too prominet, either. Over at the BF1 subreddit general opinion is very positive. But they made a lot of gameplay changes that veterans of the series appreciate, like giving the classes distinct playstyles and roles again. Everyone knew it was not going to be realistic like Verdun and just a Battlefield with WW1 theme. Their discussion about it frustrated me a little.
